Roads in Our Backyard

The Municipality of Tweed was successful in receiving provincial funding for the Crookston Road Reconstruction project.  This project is one of 19 approved in Eastern Ontario through the 2015-2016 round of the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund.  Expanding and improving infrastructure for Ontario's small, rural and northern municipalities is part of the government's economic plan to build Ontario up and deliver on its number-one priority to grow the economy and create jobs.

The work on Crookston Road was completed by Danford Construction with updated culverts installed, the surface repaved and bike lanes created on both sides of the road for added safety for our cycling enthusiasts.  Public Works Manager, Allan Broek, commented that “the construction project is now complete, went well and came in under budget”.

In addition to the reconstruction of Crookston Road, Quin-Mo-Lac Road was also chosen for repair as part of the Municipality of Tweed 2016 Capital Budget Project.  The rural portion of Quin-Mo-Lac Road received ditching, culvert replacement and resurfacing.  The connecting portion of road within the Village limits was paved with new curbs and gutters. The work on Quin-Mo-Lac Road was completed by Municipality of Tweed staff with municipal equipment and resources.  This project is now complete and once again was well under budget.
