The nomination period for the 2026 Municipal Election is now open, May 1st 2026.
Candidate Eligibility:
- A Canadian citizen
- At least 18 years old
- Resident of The Municipality of Tweed
- A non-resident that owns/rents, or whose spouse owns/rents, property in the Municipality
- For school board trustee(s), a resident in the area of jurisdiction of the school board
- Not ineligible under the Municipal Election Act, Education Act, or any other act, or otherwise prohibited by law to be nominated for office
How to File a Nomination:
Please book an appointment with the Clerk to file a nomination at the Municipal office. The nomination period is open May 1st, 2026 - August 21st, 2026 at 2:00PM.
Each proposed candidate must file the prescribed declaration form signed by at least 25 persons (School Board candidates are exempt). The required filing fee for Head of Council is $200.00, and all other offices are $100.00.
