Welcome to the Municipality of Tweed!
As the October 2026 municipal and school board elections approach, residents are being reminded to review and update their school support designation to ensure they are eligible to vote for the appropriate school board trustee representatives.
In Ontario, every residential property is linked to a school board support designation, regardless of whether the household currently has children attending school. This designation determines which school board trustee election residents can participate in during municipal elections.
By default, school support is assigned to the English Public school board unless homeowners or tenants choose another option.
Residents have the ability to direct their support to one of four school board systems:
- English Public
- English Catholic
- French Public
- French Catholic
The deadline to update school support information is June 1, 2026, to ensure voter information is accurate for the upcoming October 2026 elections.
Ontario residents can easily check or update their designation online through the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) website at MPAC School Support Portal.
Ensuring school support information is up to date helps maintain accurate voters’ lists and ensures residents can participate in the trustee election that reflects their chosen school board system.
