The Municipality of Tweed would like to advise affected residents that the electronic reversal of the additional pre-authorized tax withdrawal made on July 8, 2026 is expected to take longer than initially anticipated and may require a couple more days to resolve.

If you require reimbursement before Wednesday (July 15), please call the municipal office Friday (July 10) morning before noon and speak with Kate Lessard or Arthur Smith. Please provide your name, address, phone number and roll number. A municipal cheque will be prepared for you to pick up in the afternoon after 2pm. To pick up this cheque, you will need to bring with you a copy of your bank information identifying the duplicate payment, a copy of your tax bill and personal identification, e.g. drivers licence.

The Municipality of Tweed is aware of an issue that occurred on July 8, 2026, affecting some property owners enrolled in the Pre-Authorized Payment Plan for property taxes. As a result of this error, some individuals may have experienced additional or duplicate withdrawals from their bank accounts.

Municipal staff are actively working to resolve the matter. Any incorrect or excess withdrawals will be reversed, and affected funds will be returned to the appropriate accounts as quickly as possible.

The Municipality will also reimburse any fees or charges incurred by affected property owners as a direct result of this issue.
